    A shielded Zcash transaction lands in your wallet. Its encrypted memo is the goose: ID plus all 256 pixels.

The straight version

Zcash doesn't have native NFTs on mainnet yet — Shielded Assets (ZSAs) are still on testnet. So today a Zeese is a memo-anchored collectible: the art is genuinely on Zcash inside your memo, and who-owns-what lives in our ledger, which we hash and anchor on chain so we can't quietly rewrite it. Trades run through our marketplace. When ZSAs go live on mainnet, every holder claims the real asset. That's the plan, and we'd rather tell you now than have you find out later.

Which wallet do I need?

Noir, the Zcash browser wallet. Your goose goes to a shielded u1 address, so it has to be a wallet that can read shielded memos.

Didn't geese already happen on Bitcoin?

They did, and we salute every one of them. Small thing though: a lot of those ordinals geese were inscribed as fixed-size SVGs with no viewBox, so they show up in a tiny scrolling box like a goose stuck in a lift. You have to scroll to see the beak. Zeese have a viewBox. Zeese fit. On your phone, on a billboard, on a grain of rice. Honk.

Where does the art come from?

Zeese are inspired by Dmitri Cherniak's Goose Generator, which he released CC0 and told the world to remix and mint "on whatever blockchain". We took him up on it: new 16×16 grid, new palette, new traits, and a visor on every single goose. Thank you, Dmitri.

Can anyone see what I hold?

Not on chain. Your goose arrives in a shielded transaction and the memo is encrypted to you, so there's no explorer page for your bag. We do keep the private ledger of which address holds which goose — that's how trades work until ZSAs — and we publish only its hash, never the list.

How do I know you won't swap the art?

Before mint we publish one hash covering all 6,969 geese. Anything changes, the hash changes. It'll appear here when the collection is locked.
